GlycoLax Dosage

The recommended dosage of GlycoLax is the same for everyone -- 17 grams of powder dissolved in four to eight ounces of liquid and swallowed once a day. It may take up to four days after you start taking GlycoLax to have a bowel movement. If you do not have a bowel movement right away, do not take more than the standard dose.

An Introduction to Dosing With GlycoLax

There is only one standard recommended dose for GlycoLax™ (polyethylene glycol 3350). As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
(It should be noted that GlycoLax is no longer manufactured, although several different generic forms are still available.)

GlycoLax Dosage for Constipation

The recommended dose of GlycoLax for treating occasional constipation is 17 grams (about one heaping tablespoon) of powder dissolved in four to eight ounces of liquid and swallowed once a day.
Each GlycoLax single-dose packet contains 17 grams of powder. Therefore, if you are using the single-dose packets, dissolve an entire packet in four to eight ounces of liquid and drink it.
If you are using the multidose bottles, use the dosing cup provided with the product to measure 17 grams of powder. Mix the powder with four to eight ounces of liquid and drink it.
Although GlycoLax is not officially approved to treat constipation in children, it is often used off-label for this reason. If your child's healthcare provider recommends GlycoLax, follow his or her specific dosing instructions.
The GlycoLax product information states that this laxative should not be used for more than seven days. Although some people may need to take it for a longer time, it is a good idea to check with your healthcare provider before using GlycoLax long-term. If your healthcare provider recommends that you take this laxative for more than seven days, you may disregard the label directions that warn against doing so.
