Constipation Home > Generic GlycoLax

GlycoLax is a "branded generic" product, which means that it is a generic version of an off-patent product (MiraLAX), but has a brand name. Although GlycoLax is no longer manufactured, several different generic forms are still available. If you are looking for a GlycoLax generic product that is available over-the-counter, your pharmacist can help you choose a reliable manufacturer.

Can I Buy Generic GlycoLax?

GlycoLax™ (polyethylene glycol 3350) is a nonprescription medication approved to treat occasional constipation. The nonprescription version was made by Kremers Urban, LLC. It is a "branded generic," which means it is a generic version of an off-patent product but has a brand name. GlycoLax is a generic version of MiraLAX.® Other generic versions of MiraLAX are also available.
(It should be noted that GlycoLax is no longer manufactured, although several different generic forms are still available.)

Who Makes Other Generic Polyethylene Glycol 3350 Products?

Other generic polyethylene glycol powder-for-solution products are made by several different companies, including:
  • Perrigo Company
  • Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals
  • American Health Packaging.
Most versions are available over-the-counter (OTC). However, some generic versions are still available by prescription only. These are exactly the same as the over-the-counter versions, but are more likely to be covered by insurance.

Other Names for Generic MiraLAX Products

In addition to GlycoLax, there are many different names for polyethylene glycol 3350 products. Sometimes, these products are labeled simply as polyethylene glycol 3350. However, they may also be sold under other names, such as:
  • Clearlax™
  • Healthylax™
  • Purelax™
  • Dulcolax Balance®.
It is easy to check if a nonprescription product contains polyethylene glycol 3350 by looking under the "Active Ingredients" section for "polyethylene glycol 3350." Ask your pharmacist if you are unsure if a product is a generic version of MiraLAX.
