The brand-name form of polyethylene glycol 3350 is manufactured by Schering-Plough HealthCare Products, Inc. The patents for this medication have expired, and it is available in generic form.
 
Generic polyethylene glycol 3350 is manufactured by several different companies, including:

  • Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals
  • American Health Packaging.
     
Originally, polyethylene glycol 3350 was available by prescription only. In fact, some generic versions are still available as prescription medications. The prescription versions are exactly the same as the over-the-counter (OTC) version, but are more likely to be covered by insurance.
